DOMOTEX

There can hardly be any collection at marburg that is as rich in tradition as DOMOTEX. The family-run company was well ahead of its time when it launched the first textiles collection under this name at the end of the 1960s – long before the name was released for the trade fair that is now so famous in the industry. DOMOTEX was a bolt from the blue. This collection marked the creation of a new genre of textile wallcoverings that revolutionised the market of the time. Wallpapers had been turned into high-quality, elegant textile coverings for the wall. Textile wallcoverings had become a standard product. The technology required – applying yarns onto paper, or a non-woven backing nowadays, using what are known as warp beams – was developed by marburg and has been scrupulously maintained  and continued to this day. The new DOMOTEXx collection reflects our commitment to this tradition.

The highlights of the collection are:
  • Wallcoverings with a fine-meshed, graceful gauze weave. Laying the lengths on top of each other creates a delicate moiré effect. The matching single-colour wallcovering also has a special feature: The fabric is crushed into fine pleats. Every single roll is unique. The raised parts are in highlighted  using colour, which requires great skill and care on the part of the printers.
  • Wallcoverings with warp thread backing, i.e. individually glued on fabric threads which dress the wall in six beautiful, comfortable shades, all in a matt finish. There are also wallcoverings shimmering in metallic colours, printed with a gently curving floral ornament.
  • Digital prints that are wonderfully tactile, featuring a landscape on the banks of a lake, dotted with meadow flowers and bushes in full bloom, realistic and full of detail. The complete picture consists of two parts that can be put together as required to create a motif full of variety. The second print, large banana leaves, is available in four different colour combinations.
  • A gossamer-fine non-woven background, pleated and printed with floral patterns. Only marburg produces this delicate, crushed look. The machine creases the pleats differently each time, so every roll is unique.
